OUR PROJECTS

WILD BEAR CAMERA TRAP STUDY

The Frankfurt Zoological Society - Help for Threatened Wildlife (FZS) has provided funding for a camera-trap study in order to assess the density of Bears within the ACP Chaparri and gather information on their seasonal movements and habitat use.

One photo shows a mother bear with her cub - just peeping from behind the rock!

We are about to receive the last of the 20 digital camera traps and will be using these for one year to study the bears and other fauna and will then begin the main part of the study. Unfortunately we have a camera-shy Bear that has attacked two traps, completely destroying one, and so are having to install Bear-proof housings to protect the remaining cameras.
