Adopt a Howler Monkey

Tabare - meaning the man of the village 

Latest Babies to arrive in 2009 - all available to adopt and looking for your help to get back to the wild.  

Tito.  He arrived on February 15th without hair because he had a disease on the skin.  He didn’t eat.  Now he is very good living in the kindergarten and he is waiting the next trip to Jericó.   

Richi arrived on February 22th.  He was voluntary gave by a family that lived with him for two years and they realised that Richie is a wild animal and that he shouldn’t live in a house because it isn’t the environment for him.   

Mechas cames on March 13th with a wound in the middle finger of her left hand.  Actually she is in a very good condition, she has a nice hair, and she is very spoil because she is a baby and she needs a lot of mothering. 

Psyco arrived on April 1th with a psychological problem (reason of his name).  He is very hyperactive, anxious, and with a lot of stress.  He needed psychiatric medicines for one month.  Today he is better, he is in a group and he is calm.   

Rita is with us since April 8th.  She arrived in good conditions and nowadays she is very active and has good relationship with other howler monkeys. 

Sacha arrived on April 18th with something (coto) in her neck.  She is better and has a lot of friends. 

Francisco. They arrived on April 16th together from Barranquilla via Animals Defender Society of Barranquilla. They are adults and they are very spoilt.  They came very thin and with wounds in their tails.  Today Francisco is very good, he is in a group waiting go to Jericó,

Chepa. Arrived with Francisco from Barranquilla but Chepa is very sick.  She doesn't eat and every day is more and more thin, nobody (monkeys) love her because she is spoilt and looks like she don’t like to live. 

Violeta came on May 3th with wounds, marks and old brocken bones.  Today she is better and she is in a group of kindergarten. 

 Emiliana & Choco came the same day, on June 4th.  They were confiscated by the environmental authorities.  When they came had a nervous behavior, they were aggressive and in bad corporal conditions.  Now their health is improving but still they are in the hospital under supervision.

 

 

Aura - meaning breeze.

Un-named Twins.

 

 

 Tupac - meaning the mister.

 Aurelia - meaning the one with the value of the gods.

 

 

Unnamed Baby.

Beatriz - meaning the one who gives happiness and pleasure.


Unnamed Adult.

All these animals have had their mothers killed by poachers to get the cute baby to sell as pets. They were either handed in or confiscated by the authorities and desperately need you to save their lives and give them a wild future.

Your genorosity will entitle you to a certificate of adoption, complete with a photograph of your chosen Howler and in recognition of your support we will add your name to the roll of honour to be displayed in South Lakes Wild Animal Park and on the website.
